Youtheatre

A volunteer theatre group that is dedicated to providing theatrical training for youth in the Northumberland area. We are working towards creating a safe place where youth can learn about all aspects of stage, television, and radio. We provide:

  • Workshops during the holiday periods (March Break and Summer) where youth are able to include all aspects of a play production from script to stage.
  • Annual stage productions at the Victoria Hall, where the youth perform for groups of school children from the surrounding area. This is an opportunity for the youth to experience acting in front of a large audience.
  • Mentoring provided by the adult actors in the Northumberland Player's Company. The youth have opportunity to work as an apprentice with the adults both on-stage and with the backstage crew.
  • Drama classes are currently being designed to help coach the youth on a more regular basis. The classes will take place on Saturday's from 10am to 12pm, during the months of October, November, January, and February (16 sessions in total). The youth will study portions of a variety of plays including character development, set and lighting design, make-up, hair, costume etc.
