Northumberland Players Summer Theatre Camps
The Northumberland
Players are pleased to offer three summer camps for children in
2010.
Ages 6-10 One Week Camp "Theatre Basics" This one
week camp is designed to fire up campers' imaginations, and introduce them
to basic theatre skills. These include learning how to be someone else,
how to speak in different situations, how to move and present yourself on
stage, and how to “share the limelight”. Improvisation and mime are part
of the curriculum as well. Our talented and experienced staff will use
theatre games and other activities including arts crafts and music to
foster learning in a fun filled environment. The final product is a public
performance in the Fire Hall Theatre where you may discover you have your
own emerging Dakota Fanning or Zachary Gordon!
Ages 10 -13 Two Week Camp "I Love Being an Actor" The
children in this camp will spend their time acquiring more advanced skills
in on-stage work. They will practice audition skills, and work with
monologues. There will be intensive work on short scenes of theatre, that
will involve character study, and the use of skills in movement, mime,
voice and teamwork. Again music and visual arts will round out the
programme. At the end of the session there will be a showcase performance
by the campers in the Fire Hall Theatre.
Ages 13+ Four Week Camp "Theatre Intensive"
This
one month camp is ideal for graduates of our 1 and 2 week camps. It is
open also to other actors who have lots of enthusiasm and some
theatre/drama background. Drama instructors will focus on honing,
polishing and extending your theatre skills as well as giving you
experiences on the back-stage and on-stage theatre world. As with the
other camps this intensive theatre experience will be drawn together in a
Fire Hall production at the end of camp.
To register your child for summer camp, you can download the camp
Registration form off the website, print it off and submit the completed
form with a non refundable $50.00 registration fee to: The Northumberland
Players, Camp , The Fire Hall, 213 Second Street. Cobourg On.

The Colborne Art
Gallery - Open Fields and Gardens, a show by guest artist Susan
Fisher. “Where ever I wander or travel, fields and gardens provoke
many layers of sensations: the sensation of rhythms and musical sounds;
the sense of touch and of movement; of course the sensation of colour –
brilliantly stunning or quietly muted. Reaching into the scenes – I
extract fragments and weave them together into my interpretation of
Nature’s oeuvre. Encaustic allows the composition a dynamic wherein the
elements can move visually as they would in reality as we experience it.”
