the visibility of the artist and the arts community through advocacy,
communications and leadership. This newsletter covers theatre, music, lectures,

Organizers: The Ontario Ministry of Tourism has launched Celebrate Arts Council Annual General
Meeting. November 25th
Please note correction. Social meet and greet Northumberland Community
Futures Development Corporation (Northumberland CFDC) has launched a “Cultural Sector Loan” for artists throughout paul.portelli@northumberlandcfdc.ca The ACN website now has a map of cultural attractions – galleries,
theatres, museums - in Northumberland. It is a work in progress with the
possibility of including studios, arts supplies stores and other ancillary

doors. After four years, Port Hope's contemporary art
gallery, the A.K. Collings Gallery, quietly closed its doors on Oct. 31.
"It's been a fantastic four year stretch. It's been really, really fun
to put on the kinds of shows that might not ordinarily be seen in a small
town," said gallery curator Aurelie Collings.
"I'm definitely working to continue doing that in 'Miss Purity Flour' rises to the
top of fiction contest short list There's success in failure - you just have
to wait for it. Author Linda Hutsell-Manning's
short story, 'Miss Purity Flour' which she started in 1992, was not only
abandoned a few times, but rejected by publishers many times. Renowned author Jack Whyte

Bean. Collings has a series of “pop-up” exhibitions in the works for Collings also provides art consulting and
art placement services. This can range from helping residential or corporate
clients enhance an existing collection with in-situ colour,
display and editing decisions, through to providing acquisitions advice and
negotiating the purchase of specific works for collectors. Her goal is to
fulfill the needs and sensibilities of the individual client, rather than to
impose her own taste. Another project is “Folded&Gathered”, a fine press and
publisher of limited edition literary/art books. A.K. will be assuming the
role of co-publisher and acquisitions editor. The first title is to be

- "Living Within the Means of Existence" (kinetic and light based
paintings and sculptures), A.K.Collings Gallery,
Port Hope. Rui Pimenta is an emerging
artist who works with water-based fluid media (inks, latex and resin) on
transparent surfaces. His multi-layered and three dimensional work defies
categorization : it is both painting and sculpture.The
exhibition consists of 6 of Pimenta's light boxes,
and one large, singularly beautiful kinetic mobile, which occupies the entire
back wall of the space. He has transformed this small gallery into a
glittering jewel box: beautiful by day and spectacular by night. "Exposed", The 5th
Annual Photographic Exhibition by the Northumberland Photography Club. at "Meet at Second fine arts show at the
Spirit of the Hills Showcase Gallery featuring thirty-six (36) works of art,
sculpture and stained glass, until Sunday November 8th.
