New Season.
After much negotiating and waiting, Artistic Director, Robert
Latimer-Cornell is now able to officially announce the 2009-2010
Season for First Stages Theatre Company. Art buyers put their money on Doig as the next Hockney.”Christie's took £3,009,250 for Doig's
neon-lit panorama Night Playground of 1997, and Sotheby's £2,057,250 for his
Canadian farm landscape Almost Grown. Nine or 10 bidders competed for each
picture. Both prices were far over the high estimate.” Peter Doig is the son of local artists Mary
and David Doig Among Nonprofits Fearing Future, Arts
Orgs Most Worried "Ninety-two percent of the nearly 100 respondents in
a survey conducted in May by the Bridgespan Group
said they were feeling the effects of the downturn. Eighty percent of charity
officials reported that their organizations were experiencing financial
stress, in another study conducted in April by the The Live Concert Was Supposed To Die.
Instead... "Part of the thrill of being present at a great concert is
knowing that it's happening in this place and time, among these people, and
can never be experienced the same way again. It's both a celebration of
singularity and a reminder that life is finite and lived in one direction
only." From The Blogs:

Canvas auction tickets are in great demand and there is a limited number
available. A person may attend the auction portion for only $75.00 rather
than buy a ticket for the gala dinner for 250.00. The national artist’s
canvases have been arriving over the past few weeks and they are impressive.
We are endeavouring to have a representative
contingent of national artists actually attending the event; of course their
official agents and managers are always a challenge to fit open dates. The Northumberland
