Neurartic Blog. – Never Too Early.
One more installation in my series of posts pertinent to arts education, this
time from the tenderest end of the spectrum
(age-wise, anyway). In a fabulous send-up of Ayn
Rand's "The Fountainhead", Maggie Simpson, whilst pursuing her
studies at "Mediocri-Tots
Daycare Center",
gets punished for being creative. It all works out in the end

Student
Art Exhibition at the Art Gallery Of Northumberland The 16th Annual Student
Exhibition (May 15 – June 20) is currently making a fine display of
itself at the Art Gallery of Northumberland (AGN) in Victoria Hall. The art
is created by students from grades 9 through 12 from schools throughout Northumberland
County.
Your Editor Abroad in Berlin, Paris and Munich:
Frans Hals And The Boys From Haarlem . On my last day, I spent a
delightful afternoon with Hals and his pals in Munich’s
Kunsthalle der Hypo-Kulturstiftung, a long name for a state-of-the-arts
exhibition space in a brand new, upscale shopping complex downtown. That this
facility sits cheek-to jowl with the likes of Hugo Boss, Ermenegildo
Zegna, and Giorgio Armani is only fitting. Far too
often the visual art museums are – is banished too strong a term?
– to leafy regions far from the shopping
action.
William
Blake’s Arrows Of Desire. After the ‘shock
of the new and already seedy’ at the Pompidou, the William Blake show
at the Petit Palais brought me back into lap of the
familiar fin-de-siecle Parisian museums. The Grand
and Petit Palais sit across from each other, the
remnants of a World Exhibition, replete with - now comic - symbolic sculpture
and gilt cast iron. Ah, the Frenchness of it all.
Lots Of Kandinsky After a winter that saw people staying up
all night to visit Picasso and the Masters at the Grand Palais,
the Andy Warhol show at the same site is such a hit that they are planning
24-hour opening to cope with the crowds. De Chirico
is packing them in at the Paris City
Modern Art Museum.
The Pompidou Centre has scored a smash with a mega-show of Kandinsky. William Blake is drawing crowds at the Petit Palais.
