Artist’s Statement

Dare to listen to your inner voice! Dare to find out who you are! Dare to live out of your inner truth and integrity! - Terry Marrocco

While Terry was still serving as an elementary school principal, her personal wellness included daily spontaneous tempera painting and art journaling. Helen Keller’s quote inspired Terry to embark on her healing journey to retrain as an art therapist. Physically, emotionally, spiritually, intellectually and creatively, Terry lives by this quote:

Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. To keep our faces toward change and behave like free spirits in the presence of faith is strength. Undefeatable. - Helen Keller

This daring adventure began in Terry’s spontaneous art painting of her red spirit. Later, Terry added more structured acrylic painting outdoors to her repertoire.

Terry’s take on painting is to get the impression, the inner movement and vivacity of what she is painting. Terry revels in rich vibrant colours and visceral textures.

Terry would like also to participate in a life drawing/painting group.

Biography

On her artist/art therapist’s journey, Terry relocated to Cobourg where she grew up, dancing to the call of the azure blue lake and glorious rolling hills in Northumberland County. Terry purchased her Cobourg century home with its high ceilings, original pine plank floors, large window vistas as an oasis for her art-making/art therapy studio. Spacious grounds and proximity to the lake provide an instrumental setting for her art-making and art therapy.
